"Thought I ditched you." — Carmen Cortez

Dr. Romero is a scientist, an ex-associate of Donnagon Giggles and an ally of the Cortez family. He is a major character in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and a cameo character in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.

Appearance[]

Romero is a middle-aged man with brown hair. He wears a red shirt, a cap and a lab coat. He wears several rings, one of them looks like a wedding ring. In the flashback his hair is kept tidy, but now it's messy, due to the time he has spent in the island hiding. His glasses are broken, but he doesn't seem to mind it.

History[]

Past[]

Prior to the events of the film, Romero moved to what became an invisible island (due to the Transmooker device) and created miniature animals and to go with them, mixed varieties of mini animals. Things went wrong when Romero applied a growth serum to his little mixed creatures and ended up hiding in his house. He was afraid that they would eat him up until when he tried to stop Donnagon that the creatures liked Romero.

Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams[]

In the movie, he lives in the Island of Leeke Leeke, and he is hiding because he thinks his animals want to eat him. He greets Carmen and Juni and they tell him they are looking for the Transmooker. They think Romero is crazy. He sides with Donnagon at first, but then befriends the Cortez family. He gains more confidence after speaking with Juni, and discovers that his animals actually liked him. At the end, he gives Juni one of his miniature animals.

Spy Kids 3: Game Over[]

At the beginning of the film, Romero sent Juni some pets: Miniature Sharks. Also, he gave warning in his letter that Juni shouldn't poke his finger in the bowl, as the sharks are still man eaters.

When Carmen and Juni summoned all their allies to help fight against the Destructos army sent by the Toymaker, Romero came riding on a spork. Carmen gave him a pair of 3-D glasses to see the enemy, but they're a little broken. To Romero, they're perfect. He then got on the spork and charged at one of the Destructos. After the battle, Romero joined the Cortezes' extended family.

Personality[]

Romero is an intelligent and quite eccentric scientist, and Carmen and Juni think he is weird. He likes genetic experiments and created a lot of strange animals. He seems quite shy and scared at first, but thanks to Juni he gains more confidence and he is happy to discover his animals like him.

Abilities[]

He created the miniature animals and the Transmooker.

Relationships[]

He worked with Donnagon Giggles and then befriended the Cortez family. In the third movie he takes part of the family gathering to defeat the Toymaker.
